Walk Reports Database

You can use the Walks Database to search for other walks similar to that currently shown, or easier low-level walks, or more adventurous high-level Munros and Corbetts.
Use the Search option for a specific mountain or hill, or, select Munro, Corbett or Others for a full listing of all walks in that category. There are currently almost 400 walks available on the database.

Search Hints: Single searches can be accomplished by a partial name search.
e.g. Entering ime, will return Beinn Ime, and any other hills with ime in the name. Similarly, entering Sgurr will return all occurances of Sgurr in the hill name. Searches are not case sensative and will respond to a partial name, e.g phar will return Beinn Pharlagain.

Beinn Dubh(642m)

With the forecast predicting sunny spells and showers, a morning on Beinn Dubh was my choice to stretch the legs and grab a few views. At least that was the plan, for the moment I left the house a “shower” came along and did not end until I was on the summit of Beinn Dubh, so much for “showers”.

Anyway, setting off from Luss with my light waterproof on in the hope that it would dry soon, I was up around the 350 to 400 metre height when, with the shower getting heavier and the wind picking up, I swapped the light waterproof for my heavier one and continued to the top, by which time the wind was strong enough to stop me in my tracks on a few occasions, wet and windy it was.

Nevertheless, I took a reasonable break on the top, during which the rain eased and finally stopped as I finished a snack. Happy with my exercise for the day, I decided not to continue to Mid Hill and to just head back downhill, which as far as layers was concerned was the reverse of the uphill; heavy waterproof off around 500 metre point, and windproof off around the 200 metre point as the low level breeze replaced the high level strong gusts.

An interesting morning, enjoyed the wander immensely.
