Ben Lomond(974m)

A glorious sunny day, so where better to head for than our own Munro, Ben Lomond; unfortunately, everyone else seemed to have the same idea. The car park at Rowardennan was full, to the extent that some people were driving away, as we did, but just as far as the Hotel were local knowledge found us a parking spot right outside the hotel on that little bank which is not part of the actual hotel parking. Ah well, we were heading for the Ptarmigan Ridge approach, so we will soon leave all those tourists behind.

Second mistake of the day, Ptarmigan Ridge was almost as popular as the tourist route, and as we sat by the lochan at the top of the ridge, is was possible to see both approaches, (Ptarmigan & tourist path) to the summit, and, on both, the figures were like ants against the blue skyline streaming towards the summit from all directions.

Up the ridge and onto the summit, not even breaking step, we walked straight over the summit area and started to weave our way in, out and around the stream of walkers coming up the tourist path, it was endless, even as we were on the final section back to the car park people were still heading off up the track. That's what fine weather brings to Ben Lomond.

Nevertheless, a great day. Wonderful weather, wonderful views, great company, thanks all.
