Craig Coastal Walk

Sunday 6th July 2014

Following yesterdays long day, and with the possibility of some heavy rain showers, we opted for a more leisurely walk today, and decided to take the coastal path from Lower Diabaig to the bothy at Craig. As it transpired, we only had one period of heavy rain with the remainder of the day bright and sunny. That said, this was a very relaxing walk, taken at a very leisurely pace over the high coastal path to Craig.

As bothies go, Craig is quite a luxurious one; with two-storey accommodation and yet more work being done on the second room on the ground floor. That is, if you enjoy sharing your garden with a vast herd of cows, calfs and the biggest bull you have ever seen.

We spent quite some time walking the shoreline, and just exploring the five or six ruins that remain from what must have been a very small and very remote community, probably in existence into the early 19th century.

We rounded off the day by paying a visit to the Gille Brighde restaurant nestled alongside of the small harbour 0n Loch Diabaig where some fine ale was sampled at the end of a great, and very relaxing day.
