Walk Reports Database

You can use the Walks Database to search for other walks similar to that currently shown, or easier low-level walks, or more adventurous high-level Munros and Corbetts.
Use the Search option for a specific mountain or hill, or, select Munro, Corbett or Others for a full listing of all walks in that category. There are currently almost 400 walks available on the database.

Search Hints: Single searches can be accomplished by a partial name search.
e.g. Entering ime, will return Beinn Ime, and any other hills with ime in the name. Similarly, entering Sgurr will return all occurances of Sgurr in the hill name. Searches are not case sensative and will respond to a partial name, e.g phar will return Beinn Pharlagain.

Beinn Dubh(642m) & Mid Hill(657m)

A glorious winters day, clear blue skies, no wind, frozen hillsides and just a sprinkling of snow on the ground, where better to be than our local Luss Hills.

The photos tell the story much better than I can, simply to say, we took the usual route from Luss, directly up the broad grassy slopes of Beinn Dubh to the summit before continuing onwards to Coire na h-Eanachan, with wonderful views across the Arrochar Alps and onwards to Mid Hill.

It was here, on Mid Hill that we made our first stop and had ourselves a leisurely lunch just soaking up the views, which were quite extensive in all directions. So pleasant was the day that it was commented that the break we had was probably longer than many of those we made during a pretty wet and miserable summer.

Break over, and we descended from Mid Hill towards the head of Glen Luss, the descent requiring a little care as it was somewhat slippery underfoot, but everyone made it without any tumbles or mishaps. Finally, all that remained was a steady walk back along the glen to Luss, and a coffee with a scone and jam to round off a fine day on the "wee hills".

Wonderful day, thanks everyone, great company.
